Mark Agathangelou

Mark has long-term chronic nerve pain which has severely impacted his life, both personal and working (he has a background in publishing).
Having attended a pain management programme in 2018 he subsequently became very active in lived experience partner work. Having helped set up and run a peer-to-peer support group for people with pain (CamPain) in Camden, North London, he moved into LEP roles with the NHS, chairing Camden’s patient engagement committee, serving as a patient representative with North Central London NHS (primary care committee member). He has worked extensively as an LEP with NHS England, with the National MSK and Experience of Care (Co-production) teams.
Currently he is serving as a member of the British Pain Society’s Expert Patient & Carer Committee. He also acts as a lived experienced trainer with Live Well With Pain and Bridges Self Management, helping train NHS teams about chronic pain treatment and supported self-management of long-term conditions. He lives in Camden and enjoys reading (especially history) and comedy podcasts.
